Paris Regional Health Receives Additional da Vinci Xi Robot
February 12, 2025
PARIS, Texas – Paris Regional Health is proud to welcome a second da Vinci Xi robot, doubling the access to the most advanced technology available for robotic-assisted surgeries to our community.
Robotic-assisted surgery is the least invasive technique when compared to what is referred to as “open” surgery, or even traditional laparoscopic surgery. With the robot, the incisions made in a patient’s body by a surgeon are much smaller than those made during open surgery and is, therefore, considered “minimally invasive.” Studies have shown the following benefits in comparison to open surgery:
- A shorter hospital stay
- Less blood loss
- Fewer complications
- Less need for narcotic pain medicine
- A faster recovery
- Smaller incisions associated with minimal scarring
To become skilled in robotic surgery, a surgeon must complete specific training protocols including didactic and hands-on training with Intuitive and/or during residency training. Currently, Paris Regional Health has nine surgeons performing robotic-assisted surgery, spanning both general surgery and obstetrics/gynecology specialties.
“At Paris Regional Health, we are committed to providing innovative and safe alternatives to traditional open surgery whenever possible,” said Steve Hyde, CEO. “Whether through robotic-assisted technology or other minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques, we invite you to explore and understand all of your options knowing we are here to care for you every step of the way.”
