Program Details
Paris Regional Health (PRH) is a 154-bed, general acute-care hospital with a wide network of affiliated ambulatory care centers and clinics. The hospital campus itself is home to a significant number of outpatient physician practices in most medical and surgical specialties. The dedicated and experienced medical staff of 116 physicians provides comprehensive medical care and advanced surgical procedures for patients from Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and surrounding areas. PRH serves as the primary clinical site for the Internal Medicine Residency Program wherein residents will gain clinical and educational experiences in a vigorous internal medicine practice (continuity clinic), adult inpatient and outpatient medicine, emergency medicine, musculoskeletal disorders including structured curriculum in orthopedics and sports medicine, wound care and the electives detailed within the block diagram.
Members of the hospital and clinic administration, as well healthcare team members, are excited about and supportive of the integration of residents into the patient care team. Onsite support for graduate medical education at PRH includes board-certified physician faculty to supervise, teach and provide feedback to residents. PRH leadership is committed to establishing a strong graduate medical education administration team and supporting GME policies that will provide resident coordination and scheduling, monitoring and oversight of resident evaluation, simulation, and educational curriculum, resident, and faculty development through online and in-person lectures/didactics, and confidential reporting mechanisms to ensure residents and faculty can provide feedback in a manner that protects confidentiality.
PRH, its ambulatory facilities and outpatient physician practices together provide an optimal clinical learning environment for training in internal medicine. Resources for training are abundant and provide for the majority of training in the program.
