About Our Program
The Paris Regional Health Internal Medicine Residency program produces graduates who are dedicated and compassionate community leaders to advance healthcare quality and value, enhance patient and family experiences and improve access to care.
- We train physicians to practice Internal Medicine in a rural community and lead teams to reduce disparities in health care.
- We provide a comprehensive, three-year curriculum to enable residents to master internal medicine across settings from ambulatory to inpatient and in the broader context of public/community health.
- We instill the professional and ethical standards that focus on patient safety and quality improvement, self-assessment and wellness, self-directed study and leadership skills.
- Emphasize shared decision making and what matters to the patient.
- Promote well-being for residents and other in the graduate medical education, medical and broader communities.
UNTHSC/TCOM serves as the academic affiliate and the Sponsoring Institution of the GME program at Paris Regional Health. TCOM provides faculty appointments to qualified program faculty, access to world-class medical library resources, faculty development programs, support for faculty and resident scholarly activity (including IRB), access to resident wellness resources, and accreditation compliance support.

Internal Medicine fits with TCOM’s and PRH’s strategy for the development of high-quality rural GME programs and provides an opportunity to expand GME into the larger north Texas region. Professional connections with numerous faculty members and the community led to the development of this program.
