PARIS, Texas – Paris Regional Health is pleased to announce that the HOSA students from North Lamar Independent School District as the winners of the Scope Out Cancer Initiative 2025.
In late January, Paris Regional launched the Scope Out Cancer initiative, spearheaded by Internal Medicine Resident Dr. Connor Rodriguez, with the support of his fellow residents to all Lamar County schools. The meeting emphasized the significance of colon cancer screenings, treatment options, and provided an overview of the Endoscopy department at Paris Regional Health. Participating teams developed audiovisual content and strategic plans aimed at engaging the local community in awareness campaigns, with presentations held on March 27th in recognition of Colon Cancer Awareness Month. Prior to the event, the content was displayed in the Paris Regional Health lobby, allowing staff and community members to browse and vote for their favorites.
After the votes were tallied, which included scores from judges at the event and public choice counts, North Lamar High School HOSA was awarded $500 to support their HOSA program.
“This initiative has provided our community with a valuable educational experience, and together we will continue to make a significant impact in advancing this vital cause,” stated Dr. Rodriguez. “We extend our gratitude to all the schools that participated in this year's Scope Out Cancer Initiative. Their dedication and enthusiasm contributed to the event's success and played a crucial role in raising awareness about colon cancer screening.”
